Ultimate Southern Africa Travel Package

The Ultimate Southern Africa experience includes a visit to the main highlights from scenic beauty to some of the best wildlife viewing in the world! This 21-day tour will take you from the Southern tip of Africa to the heart of the Okavango Delta waterways, the Desert land of the Kalahari and the wonders of The Victoria Falls, incorporating that step back in time of a steam train journey leading you through the splendid diversity of South Africa in sheer luxury!

Day 1
You will be met upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport by an African Exclusive Travel representative, who will assist with your luggage, and transfer to your hotel at the V&A Waterfront. Escorted, private tours to Cape Point, the Cape Winelands, and many of the must-see highlights like Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront can all be arranged at your leisure.

Set on its own private quay on Cape Town’s vibrant Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the Cape Grace hotel is a destination in itself.

TIP: Savour cappuccinos by day and a large variety of exceptional whiskies and wines by night at the Hotels waterside Bascule Bar. The hotel Guest Service will also gladly assist with your Sunset Picnic at Camps Bay Beach. Tailor-make your basket from a selection of sumptuous snacks, salads and gourmet sandwiches from the chef’s choice, and they will include your transfers and mineral water.

4 x Overnights at The Cape Grace Hotel on a Bed & breakfast basis

Day 5
You will be transferred back to Cape Town Airport for your Charter flight to Tswalu Kalahari Reserve.
Arrival at the Lodge will be in time for lunch, and the remainder of the day will be at leisure. Tswalu is situated way off the beaten track in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, and is a place not many people experience. Stars light up the night sky in this deserted place. Use Tswalu’s telescope, for the ultimate stargazing and identify some of the lesser-known constellations. Take to the air and look down upon Africa in her morning awakening. Hot air ballooning is the best way to see the animals far and wide with spectacular views of the surrounding environment. Another unique activity other than the standard 4x4 Game drives is for you to visit the superb equestrian centre, which offers you horseback safaris. Safaris at Tswalu are the perfect opportunity to observe many endangered animals in their natural habitat and see a variety of birds, insects and desert vegetation.

3 x Overnights at Tswalu Kalahari Reserve on a full board basis (all meal), including game drives, horse riding and selected beverages

Day 8
After your morning game viewing activity and a late breakfast, you will be transferred to the Tswalu airstrip for your charter flight directly to Johannesburg, connect directly with your flight to the Kruger. You will be met by your ranger at the Kruger Lodge airstrip, and transferred in a 4x4 vehicle to the lodge for check in.  The rest of the day will be at leisure until you join the evening game viewing drive.

3 x Overnights at Singita Lebombo Lodge on a Fully inclusive basis (all meals and game viewing activities)

What Happens on Safari?
Safaris take place each morning and evening in open Land rovers, which drive through a wide variety of habitats, allowing you to view the vast interactions of the wild. After breakfast, guests keen to participate on guided walking trails can experience the natural environment on foot. See our quintessential safari itinerary.

Day 11
After your morning game viewing activity, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and some time at leisure to freshen up and pack, before being transferred to the lodge airstrip for your flight back to Johannesburg. Due to the connection times of the flights to Victoria Falls/ Livingstone from Johannesburg, you will need to overnight after your trip to the Kruger.

1 x Overnight at the Intercontinental Airport Sun Johannesburg on a Bed & Breakfast basis

Day 12
You will need to make your way across to the departures terminal of O.R. Tambo Airport to check in for your International flight to Victoria Falls Airport. You will be collected upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport and transferred to your hotel for check in.

2 x Overnights at The Victoria Falls Hotel on a bed & breakfast basis

Day 13
During your stay you will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of The Falls as well as a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi river, where you are sure to see many hippos, crocodiles, elephants coming down to drink, and abundant birdlife.

Day 14
After a leisurely breakfast this morning, and some time to pack up, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the Chobe Area in time for lunch. You will go through passport control at the Kazungula boarder post separating Zimbabwe and Botswana, before driving through Kasane to get to the lodge. After Lunch you will have some time at leisure before participating in your evening game viewing activity. You will return to the lodge for dinner.

2 x Overnights at Elephant Valley Lodge on a fully inclusive basis (all meals and game viewing activities)

TIP: Because Elephant Valley Lodge is located within it’s own private concession, it is the only lodge that can offer evening game drives after sunset. Opt for a morning boat trip on the Chobe River and an Evening 4x4 Safari, which is the opposite of what ALL the other lodges in the Chobe are offering, so it will be a lot more exclusive, and you won’t be bumping into so many people at animal sightings!

Day 16
You will be collected from the lodge this morning, and transferred to Kasane for your light aircraft flight to a private airstrip in The Delta. Activities in The Delta include motor boat rides, or mokoro (dug our canoe) trips as well as walking safaris n the various islands, accompanied by your experienced, professional ranger, and in some areas which aren’t permanent water regions, 4x4 game drives are also offered.

2 x Overnights at Xugana Island Lodge on a fully inclusive basis (all meals and game viewing activities)

TIP: Because Xugana Island Lodge is located in a permanent delta region, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience, fishing for bream and tiger fish is also offered as an activity at this camp! Pack in your rods! Good Walking shoes are also a must, as often you get the opportunity to walk on the islands in search of the animals and great photographic opportunities.

Day 18
After you morning game viewing activity, and breakfast, you will be transferred (by air) back to Kasane for your road transfer to Victoria Falls, for your onward flight back to Johannesburg. Directly flights from Maun are also available. Upon arrival at Johannesburg airport, you will be met and transferred to Pretoria for your overnight.

1 x Overnight at Illyria House on a bed & breakfast basis

Day 19
You will have the morning at leisure to enjoy your breakfast overlooking the beautifully manicured lawns. Capital Park Station is just a short drive from Illyria House. The red carpet and string quartet welcome you to the colonial-style railway station, setting the stage for the journey of a lifetime.

Not to give anything away, but highlights along this trip down to Cape Town include a stop in Kimberly, for an electric tram ride to Diamond Museum and the Big Hole, as well as another off train excursion at the historic, and quaint town of Matjiefontein in the heart of the Klein Karoo. This 1600-kilometre journey is a perfect illustration of South Africa as a world in one country.

2 x Overnights on The Rovos Rail journey from Pretoria to Cape Town on a Fully inclusive basis (all meals, excursions and beverages)

Day 21
You will be transferred upon arrival at Cape Town’s station to the airport for your departure flight.
