One of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Quirimbas Archipelago is closely accessed from Ibo island, and one of Ibo's best kept secrets.  A short motorised boat trip or a longer sailing dhow trip takes you to a perfect sandbank beach surrounded by sea and usually totally private with just the odd local dhow sailing past. Here we set up shade and drinks and you are free to enjoy the clear waters perfect for swimming, snorkeling, exploring and relaxing. There is a transfer to this beach each day included in the Ibo Island lodge rate. The time of the transfer is dependent on tides and the weather.  Snorkelling off the sandbank is great.  All snorkelling gear is provided, however you are  also welcome to bring your own.  Dolphins and turtles are regularly spotted from the boat.
Ibo Island Lodge offers Ibo as a personal discovery for everyone who visits and the chance to interact with the friendly people of Ibo and really understand their unique Mozambique culture.  A guided walk into the villages of Ibo reveals the day-to-day life of the Kimwani people. Discover how Muslim and African traditions have blended to create a way of life unique to Ibo. Visit the local witch doctor, meet some of the islanders, get an “Ibo face-mask” or even enjoy a game of football!

How do you get to Ibo?
