Despite traditionally being a relatively low priority area for first-time visitors to South Africa, KwaZulu Natal, with it’s sub tropical climate and so many various highlights and eco-systems, it manages to cram in most of the things visitors come to South Africa to see. KwaZulu-Natal compromises of various regions:
The South Coast -an area filled with sub-tropical bush and cane fields;
The Midlands - an area known for it's scenic beauty, arts and crafts as well as traditional and historical sites;
The Drakensberg - spectacular scenery with Majestic mountain peaks and lush valleys and the
North Coast and Hluhluwe - game reserves with an abundance of wildlife and natural scenery. Known as the Kingdom of the Zulu, KwaZulu-Natal is a melting pot of African, European and Indian cultures. This province boasts two World Heritage Sites – the
Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the
Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park. The Beaches are fantastic, weather always warm and sunny, abundant game parks, rolling green hills, numerous sugar cane plantations and rich relics of the great battles in South African history.
