This Cape winelands town lies in its own secluded valley between the second largest granite outcrop in the world and the towering Du Toitskloof Mountains, on the banks of the Berg River. The Paarl Mountain Nature reserve us dominated by the unmistakable giant granite domes, overlooking the town’s west side. These granite tops glisten like pearls if they are caught by the sun after a rainfall – hence it’s name “Paarl”.
