This panoramic 3400 kilometre 9-day South African sojourn departs annually in May/June. Travel from Pretoria eastwards to Malelane, south to Swaziland and Durban, west to Bloemfontein, then southwards again through Port Elizabeth, Oudtshoorn and George to Cape Town. After an early morning game drive through the Kruger Park, the train heads southwards to Swaziland for an afternoon game drive. Continue into Zululand for an early morning game drive in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and then on through KwaZulu Natal for an evening in Durban. During the night you continue onto Bloemfontein, with a morning tour of the city. The journey continues southwards overnight to Port Elizabeth, with a morning visit to the Addo Elephant Park. An early morning departure takes the train into Oudtshoorn for a visit to an Ostrich farm followed by a spectacular rail descent down the Montagu Pass into George. After a morning visit to Knysna the train sets off from George travelling the scenic Garden Route through to Mossel Bay and Riversdale. The next morning, after a visit to the KWV Brandy Distillery in Worcester, this magnificent collage ends in Cape Town.

ITINERARY: PRETORIA TO CAPE TOWN
Day 1
10h00 The Pride Of Africa departs Rovos Rail’s Station in Capital Park
Guests may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travellers in the midway Lounge car or Observation carriage at the rear of the train.
13h00 Lunch is served in the dining car/s as the train passes through Belfast at 1 970ms.
17h40 The train departs Waterval Boven and travels the spectacular 14km descent through the Drakensberg escarpment arriving in Waterval Onder (1 310ms) at 18h00.
19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s.
24h00 The train will arrive at Malelane Station for the overnight stop.
Day 2
05h30 An early wake up call for a game drive in the Kruger National Park.
05h45 Tea, coffee, juices, fruit, and pastries will be served in the Dining Cars. Please ensure that you are warmly dressed. As the morning drive progresses the weather can warm up considerably, so please also ensure you have hats and sun protection. Rain capes will be available if required.
08h00 The Game Rangers will stop for a short bathroom break. A snack, fruit and juice will be available.
11h30 Brunch will be served in the Dining Cars while you travel through Komatipoort.
15h00 Arrive at Mkhaya Reserve for our afternoon game drive. The weather can be very warm, so please ensure you have hats and sun protection. As the evening drive progresses the weather can cool down considerably so please also ensure that you take warm clothing. Rain capes will be available if required.
18h00 Board the train at Quarry Siding for 18h15 departure to Hluhluwe in Zululand.
19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s.
Day 3
01h30 The train will arrive at Hluhluwe Station.
05h00 An early morning wake up call for a game drive in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve.
08h00 Tea, coffee, juices, fruit and pastries will be served in the dining car/s.
The Game Rangers will stop for a short bathroom break at Hilltop Camp where tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. Please ensure that you are warmly dressed. As the morning drive progresses the weather can warm up considerably, so please also ensure you have hats and sun protection.
Rain capes will be available if required.
11h00 – 13h00 Brunch will be served in the dining car/s while you travel through the Valley of a Thousand Hills en route to our final destination.
18h00 Arrive in Durban. Alight from train to be taken by coach to dinner in the city.
Day 4
06h00 Depart Durban en route for Bloemfontein.
07h00 Breakfast is served in the dining car/s.
13h00 Lunch is served in the dining car/s.
17h45 The train arrives in Bethlehem.
21h20 The train arrives in Kroonstad during dinner.
23h15 Arrive in Theunissen where the train will stop for a few hours.
Day 5
07h00 The train departs Theunissen for Bloemfontein as breakfast is served in the dining car/s.
09h00 Arrive in Bloemfontein where guests disembark for a city tour.
12h00 Return to the train for lunch at 13h00.
19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s.
23h55 Arrive in Ripon for our overnight stop.
Day 6
07h00 Depart Ripon as breakfast is served in the Dining Cars.
08h45 Arrive Coerney siding and disembark for game drive in the Addo Elephant Park.
12h45 Board the train for lunch as you head towards Port Elizabeth.
19h30 Dinner is served in the Dining Cars.
23h15 Arrive in Willowmore where you overnight.
Day 7
07h00 Breakfast is served in the dining car/s.
10h00 Arrive in Oudtshoorn for ostrich farm visit.
13h00 Depart from Oudtshoorn; lunch is served in the dining car/s.
16h00 Arrive in George for stopover. Afternoon at leisure.
18h30 Disembark the train for a short drive to Fancourt Golf Estate for dinner.
Day 8
07h00 Breakfast is served in the dining car/s.
08h00 Disembark the train in George for the scenic drive to Knysna.
Enjoy a ferry ride across the Lagoon to Featherbed Nature Reserve.
NB: Warm clothes and comfortable shoes

A morning at leisure in Knysna with sight seeing, shopping.
11h45 You board the vehicles for the drive to George.
13h30 Lunch is served in the dining car/s as you depart George.
18h30 The train arrives in Riversdale where you will be stationary until 20h00 (this is a good opportunity to shower etc).
19h30 Dinner will be served in the dining car/s as you depart Riversdale.
24h00 You reach Buffelsjagrivier where the train will overnight.
Day 9
07h00 Breakfast will be served in the dining car/s.
11h00 Arrive at Worcester. You disembark to visit the KWV Brandy Cellar.
12h20 Reboard the train for the final leg to Cape Town.
13h00 Lunch will be served in the dining car/s.
17h00 Arrive Cape Town Station.
